Hi! My name is Gaby, and I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee, currently completing my Master’s in Counseling Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies. My focus is on Drama Therapy which means that I have a passion for making use of play, creativity, and imagination within a therapeutic context.
I grew up in México, so I’m aware of how different cultures and experiences shape what we think of therapy and how we show up. Even my own feelings towards therapy changed as I grew up and got exposed to different mental health approaches.
I know firsthand how important it is to find a therapist that makes an effort to meet their clients where they’re at. I care deeply about creating an honest and nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship, as well as tailoring my approach to each client’s needs and preferences.
When not at work, you’ll find me playing with my chihuahua or watching the latest horror movie. I also enjoy exploring the Bay Area and am always looking for new recommendations on restaurants and events to check out.
¡Hola! Me llamo Gaby y soy una estudiante de terapia matrimonial y familiar en prácticas. Estoy completando mi maestría en psicología de consejería en el Instituto de Estudios Integrales de California. Mi enfoque es la teatroterapia, lo cual quiere decir que me encanta hacer uso del juego, la creatividad y la imaginación en contextos terapéuticos.
Crecí en México, entonces sé cómo distintas culturas y experiencias informan lo que pensamos de la terapia y nuestra disposición hacia ella. Incluso mis propios sentimientos en cuanto a la terapia cambiaron a medida que crecí y conocí distintas maneras de tratar la salud mental.
Sé por experiencia propia lo importante que es encontrar a alguien que se esfuerce por entender y adaptarse a sus clientes. Para mí es fundamental establecer una relación terapéutica honesta y sin prejuicios. Y siempre intento adaptar mi estilo y técnicas a las necesidades y preferencias de cada cliente.
Cuando no estoy trabajando, me podrán encontrar jugando con mi perrito chihuahueño o viendo la película de miedo más reciente. Me encanta explorar el Área de la Bahía y siempre estoy buscando alguna recomendación de restaurantes o eventos para checar..
